theft deterrence
Aside from actual aftermarket alarm systems or hardware that may be added, what do you guys do to ANNOUNCE to would be thieves by way of a WINDOW STICKER or whatever that they should look for easier prey?
Do NOT want my '09 M3 fucked with by some low life (gee, how unique am I?) and do not want to be imprisoned for murder should this occur. So, I'm wondering what you guys do SUPERFICIALLY to deter criminals from targeting your cars. Just looking for any possible edge... Thanks for any suggestions! |

Coming from someone with a criminal background, breaking into expensive model car's is a bad idea. It does happen though, maybe put a sticker with an alarm warning or some kind of flashing LED on the dash whether its functional or not.

My car was almost broken into. they tried to drill out my drivers side lock but I stumbled upon them in the parking lot (attempted this in broad daylight actually). Total damage: 1200 in paint/lock repairs. What I ended up doing is removing the drivers side lock entirely and replacing it with a plastic cap. No place to drill = no way in without breaking the window.

Wow, same thing happened to me this passed Wednesday.
My passenger side window was broken in order to steal my V1 Total cost plus install will be around $450 tomorrow at the dealer but than again I didn't have an alarm, I ordered one of those as well. I get pissed for about two seconds, but nothing that can't be fixed. What's funny is I had a laptop in the car and a few pairs of sunglasses that were worth a few G's and some other stuff and they didn't take that, stupid thieves But Karma will come around. The only thing that bothers me is after maybe two times vacuuming and one wash there are still tiny shards of glass everywhere and inbedded in the CF trim |

Alarms are a waste of money.
Just don't leave anything of any value visible in the car, period. No radar detector, no cellphones, no iPods, no CDs, nothing. Not even loose change.

Real shame though that you blokes have had this happen. I still want some visible warning, like the flashing red light on my 5ers. Does the factory alarm option provide that?
