My M3 is here!

2008 CPO M-DCT Space Gray over beige M3 Coupe with 10,000 miles. Tech pkg, Prem pkg, CW pkg, Prem Sound, EDC, 19" wheels. It will be my daily driver. First saw the car on autotrader (some of you looking recently might remember it). Great deal from Schomp BMW near Denver and received terrific service from Michelin Massey there. Nearly all of the communication done by email and paperwork by FedEx. Had it shipped and it arrived yesterday!

This is the best car I've ever driven, much less owned. Previous cars were Infiniti G35 Coupe, a Lexus SC430 before that. I have been window shopping and reading C&D, R&T, AW, Automobile, and SCI for years. Most of those years I was looking at 996 turbos and more recently I've been more seriously looking at the SLK55/SL55, 996tt, 997, CTS-V, and M3/M5/M6. Drove the SLK and SL first--SLK was too small, SL55 was really nice but then I decided I didn't want a two-seater. Started comparing and shopping for the others and finally decided the P-cars were too 'showy' for this small town--I don't think there's a 996 or 997 here at all. Been reading C&D, R&T, AW, Automobile, and SCI for years, too, and they've always loved the M3 (even picking the E9x over the 997 and 997tt), so I started leaning towards the M3. A few weeks ago I test drove a CTS-V and a 335i (no M3's around) for the first time ago and really liked the BMW, so I decided to go for the M3 at Schomp.

In addition to Michelin Massey at Schomp, I would also like to thank Adrian Blackwell at Herrin-Gear BMW in Jackson, MS. In the late afternoon of April 10th (Good Friday) I went to the BMW dealership. At that point I was still just thinking about getting a BMW (and had just test driven a CTS-V). Mr. Blackwell gave his presentation, answered all of my questions, then took me out for the 335i test drive. He sold me on BMW. Even though I didn't buy a car from him, I'm so thankful for his time, effort, and knowledge, I sent a letter to his boss giving him praise and included a check to Mr. Blackwell. He deserves it.

The M3 just arrived two days ago in the afternoon in a pouring rain so I didn't drive it until yesterday. What a car!

One thing I've noticed is that I feel very little difference between any of the sport shifting settings and only a little difference between the suspension settings. Of course, I've only driven it one day, haven't been in the twisties yet, and haven't done the DSC off sport + setting yet, but I just thought I'd see significant differences. It's not a bad thing--I'm comfortable with any of the settings. I love 'em all!

Congrats on the new car! The differences in the suspension settings are most noticeably felt at the track.

Geeze, tough crowd here today. :-)

Bought all kinds of car wash/wax stuff--foamy wash gun, large water deionizer (always wanted it), clay bar, both the Klasse cleaner and protectant, and the Porter Cable buffer/polisher. Used to use Zaino on my black SC430 but didn't think I'd need it for the Gray and that Klasse would easier. I might wait until I do that this weekend before I post more pics.

nice! i almost got space grey...but i settled on lemans b/c i always wanted a blue car

I test drove your car a couple of weeks ago. I swear I behaved myself! Would have bought the car if it was a sedan. Enjoy!

Here are some pics taken by the dealer...

The car looks even better in sunlight than in these pics. I'll have to get it shined up and take some pictures outside. Even though I didn't order it new and choose my own colors, I really like the Space Gray over Bamboo Beige.
