M3s in a list I rather not see it in :)
I don't get it, how can our car be more expensive than a R8?
Demographic for R8's that much older? http://news.prnewswire.com/DisplayRe...5036423&EDATE= |

It all comes down to frequency of claims and average cost of claims – this brings in at fault rates, cost of parts etc. Put these together and that what drives the premium after adding expenses and profit margin less investment returns. Pretty simple and has everything to do with the combination of driver profiles and vehicles types. A$1300 per annum for me.

Look at the bright side: It's less expensive than a Cobalt SS .
But yes, it sucks how stupid insurance companies rate cars to their advantage. For one, I have to pay basically the same for driving 3K miles a year and car always sitting on a secure garage than somebody driving 15K miles a year and living in an apartment. Charging more for the M3 coupe than the sedan is crap as well IMO, but there's nothing we can do about it. Take care. |

Corvette is the last sports car you own before being put on a respirator. Median buyer is around 90 I recall, no hair except out of the ears, elastic pants. For 2010 it comes with a diaper genie option.

If your insurer does not give you a good discount for low mileage you need to change insurers - seriously. |

The M3 accounts for more than half of our insurance bill, including property and two other vehicles. Living abroad probably effects this in some way, but it was a little bit of a shock with the quote. At least USAA will allow me to reduce coverage for its storage in the winter.
You would figure that I should get a break on insurance as the factory in only about 60 miles from my house. At least if I wreck, it should not be too much to ship parts....

+1 hahaha. I always look at Corvette owners as being people that want to look like they are car enthusiasts and people that love driving sports cars.....But in truth, a Corvette will never be a true driver's car. It's just a pretty good looking plastic that has a HUGE amount of power and happens to handle pretty well.....But it still doesn't give the driving enjoyment that other unique sports cars give....Such as the M3.

If it makes the OP feel better I got an insurance quote on a new Evo or STI - they were more to insure than a new M3. Nearly twice as much. It has less to do with the cost of the car than it does the cost to repair and the frequency of claims made by owners of those particular cars. Quote:
