Iphone 3G problem..

Hi guys.. had my 2008 135 Coupe couple of weeks now and I love it!

However.. My normal ipod works with the USB connection but my Iphone 3G is not recognised as an external device..?? It appears to be charging but that's where it ends?

Tried searching but come up with a blank... Anybody help?

Do you have firmware 3.0 on the iPhone? There are issues with it. I updated my touch to 3.0 and now it doesn't work in my car.

I have the 3.0 OS, and it works fine for me with my iPhone 3G.

That's the thing I've read about 3.0. It's not consistent in the issues it creates. Some people can't get wifi working after upgrading, etc.

are you using the Y-cable? my 1er is 08 and i have the iphone 3G with 3.0 and its working fine. i also upgraded to 3.0.1 and no issues at all

I have read that one of the intermittent problems with 3.0 firmware is where certain iPhones do not charge on the BMW iPod setup.

BMW is redesigning the Y cable. Look for it in early September 2009. Your warranty should cover it (at least for 2009 cars).
