Ipod vs Flash vs Hardrive...

So guys whats your take on the 09's how will I perceive the best quality and dynamics of my music... I did the test myself and the Hardrive and USB flash are neck and neck... Music from the ipod seems to lack dynamics (doesn't sound as powerful or involving as with the other 2 medias) but its almost imperceptible...

Also when I first connected my flash drive it took a long time to play... then about 2 - 3 mins later started playing... will this happen every time I connect my USB drive?

let me know!

Thanks in Advance...

My ex's 328 has the USB option and using an Ipod the audio is bandpassed (Like the bass and treble was turned down.) compared to audio from a flash drive. She preffered the Ipod because of the wait for the flash drive to connect every time she started the car. When I was in her car, I would use the flash drive because the Ipod sounded so bad.

As a side note, I hope my 2010 will have a larger hard drive than the '09s to hold more music. Currently my 60G Ipod is nearly full and if as you say the audio still does not sound good from an Ipod, I will have to use flash drive.

Well Im having problems with my flash drive... first my BMW Nav says that the flash drive has 740 files when it only has 450 files one it (all mp3 files) and some of them it does not read but as I go trough the list I see that some files are duplicated... and it reads the original files but not the duplicated ones... whats up with that???

09 Idrive btw...

My flash drive works fine and loads almost instantly after starting the car. It does take 10 seconds or so for the entire library to become available but it will start playing the last song you accessed instantly. To me the flash drive over the iPod is a no brainer. It searches just like an ipod and doesn't have the D/A conversions that are present in the iPod to degrade sound quality. There is a noticeable difference between the quality on my iPod and on my flash drive even with the same files.

I found this is a cable issue - wiggle it around and you get normal audio

No problems with any bitrate MP3.
