328i-Auto trans lag, 335i-turbo lag. M3-DCT LAG...
can somebody tell me what BMW is up to? Ive never known of a car company that has so many of the exact same issues(lag) in all their cars. This is whats causing me to re-think my next car purchase to another brand. Why cant BMW wake up and smell the coffee? A rumor out there is that BMW is intentionally degrading the performance of their cars to reduce warranty claims, which would explain the lag. What do you guys think, why do you think they are having so many lag issues in a lot of their car models?

It has nothing to do with warranty claims. BMW needs to fire the manager in charge of transmissions. He/she is incompetent. It's that simple. This doesn't happen to more than one transmission over several years without it being a deficiency in decision making.

I find the wife's 328xi touring box fine once you push the lever over to sport.
It feels normal auto box in normal mode to me but I don't like auto boxes anyway so maybe that's why. It's definitely way faster and smoother than the Chevy Venture we use for the dog. |

I've never noticed that much turbo lag on a 335i, though I have witnessed the lag on both the M-DCT and their automatics. I think some of us have come to the conclusion that it's to do with the AMT software that BMW use.
