Reset shift lights every start cycle?
When in standard non-M-drive mode, do you have to reset the shift lights every time you get in and start the car? The shift lights in M-mode are fine and stay set, but in non M-mode every time I set the shift lights to on (toggle up to shift light>set>on) it works fine for that drive, but once I turn off the car the auto/default reset is to shift lights off.
I don't see anyplace in the i-drive menu to set this function other than for M-mode (which is no problem). If this is normal I can live with it, but seems to me there would be nothing wrong with maintaining this setting once set, and no, I am not changing or using different keys, always the same one. |

This is a known bug with non-IDrive cars. Supposedly BMW is working on a fix. In fact the latest software could very well fix it - I don't think anyone has confirmed it one way or the other yet.
I haven't heard of this problem with IDrive equipped cars, but if you are experiencing it then it is probably the same issue. |

Sounds like you have i-Drive. Try going to the M-mode setup page on i-Drive, hit 'option' button next to the control knob, the option menu comes up, you can set your settings for EDC, Power (shift lights included I think) for normal drive. It was a while back, but I did that, and the shift lights stays activated whenever I start the car, driving in non-M mode. Good luck.
Oh, btw I have the 2009 i-Drive. |

Hi muzeon,
I think that might have been the trick. Just went to the car now and you're right when you hit the option key it gives you the option of settings for the M key. Shift lights were selected to off, so I turned them on. Did not test, but I bet that's all it needed. Thanks again. |
