Goo coming out of engine? ((Big Pictures))
Hey everyone!
Today I was doing some detailed washing and after 2 hours of washing/waxing I decided to clean the dirt off all the plastic engine cover pieces and I came across some goo protruding from a part of the engine. It was right of where you insert more oil. I call it goo because I have no idea what it was! The best way I can think to describe it is it feels like melted plastic. I then removed it with a pair of pliers. I could clearly see where it had pushed its way through the seal of the engine and deformed the O-ring like seal. I took it out for 20 minutes running it hard to see if it would come out again with no luck. Should I be worried that there is a serious problem or is it a no worry little leak?

Sealant, or liquid gasket, used during the manufacturing process. Normal. Don't pull out anymore.

And if you would, please videotape that encounter.
OP - you're fine. Seriously. I get that everyone that buys this car isn't a gearhead from way back, but come on! I'm surprised at the level of OCD combined with digging around just looking for "stuff" from folks that have not apparently spent much time under the hood. It IS pretty to look at, but don't panic everytime you see/hear/feel something that is seemingly different than what you might have expected. Bonus points, BTW, for a really, really clear description and good photographic evidence!

It's either sealant or a booger. Ok, it's sealant. Don't pull it off with pliers. Instead cut it off with a knife or razor.

It's a booger. You should get one of these for your car:

Looked like crap indeed (heck I removed the ugly engine hanger too ), but NEVER remove those 'blubs' except with a blade. Hope you don't have the same result I had when I didn't know any better either: an oil leak ; happened on the timing chain cover of my BMW K1200 bike, and had to dismantle half my bike to fix it (fairing, radiators, forks... you name it). Seems like you lucked out . But now you know. Good luck.
