Nurburgring times

I'm trying to see what times the E92 M3 has put down on the famous Nurburgring (old loop). I know that the E92 was able to complete a 8.05 run a couple of years ago. I'm interested to see if anybody has been successful in breaking the 8 minute mark. This is the true test of a high performance car.

I hope this is not a re-post.

Thanks...

My personal best was an 8:47 and that was my 4th time on the track, anything after that I was running low 9's. I wasn't able to get back into the 8's, but I was very happy with that.

There is way too much going on, on that track for me to make 7's. There was no way. Well maybe if I had a short shifter, or DCT. I would have been able to make mid to low 8's, but no 7's

Surprised more M3 times haven't been posted since that 8:05...

I know what you mean. The track is very crowded. I have been up there many times just to hang out and watch, and there are way to many cars on the track to go all out. You would have to reserve the track for a short time in order to have it all to yourself. I can just imagine what that would cost.

I'm surprised that BMW have not posted more times as they have a dedicated testing center at the Nurburgring.

Thanks...

I was able to have a ride-along with Sabine Schmitz in her Nurburgring 24 Porsche. She was doing 7min 30 sec runs all day long. I never knew how fast a 7min 30 sec lap was, especially around this track. Amazing feeling. Well worth it.

I was also able to attend the 2009 Nurburgring 24h. This was a great race. Manthey Porsche won again. The Ford GT gave them a run for their money but it was not enough in the end.

Thanks...

They truly did their job. Sub 7min 30 sec laps around the Ring.

I'm planning on taking my M3 to the Nurburgring this spring when the weather gets better. I will more than likely bring some different wheels and tires for the occasion. This is the place where you wear them out quickly.

In my E46 m3, I managed 8:14 bridge to gantry. add about 25 seconds for a full lap: 8:39. That was two up with the following mods:

Ap 6 pots front, 4 pots back, intrax coil over kit, csl wheels and michelin ps2 tyres.

I believe it could have gone about 10 seconds faster with the perfect empty lap etc.

My current e92 m3, feels like it could go faster, but I have not yet been there with this one, so cannot prove it.

Cheers

Do you think the e92 is capable of sub 8min lap with perfect conditions or would this only be possible with significant modifications to the car?

Thanks...

I'm not sure about that but there were plenty of M3's competing as well.

I wished I had the resources to put together a dedicated 24-hour race car. Probably a e46 M3.

I love that place too. I can't believe I wasted so much time in Germany not going. I was in Germany for 3 years and never went. When I came back to the states I spent almost 3 years here and the Ring was all I seen on T.V. So when the time came I jumped at the chance to go back.

That is by far my best place on earth.

Now all I need to do is find a half decent place here in Texas to go play around. 1/4 mile tracks are not cutting it for me no more.
