Sheer awesomeness of this car starting to bug anybody else?

Hi all.

another long time bmw guy and love my e90 m3. had it for 4 mos now and love it. when driving aggressive, the engine is phenomenal. however i can never seem to stop smiling because of all the torque available up to 4k+ and then when it goes past that it gets even better.

driving any other more pedestrian car like my dd civic hybrid, i have to admit, it was refreshing to know i have an m3 in my garage with all that smooth, linear power down low and incredible rush up high. yes, i know, the m3 may not reward lazy driving technique as well as a jaguar XF diesel or 335i however it is nice nonetheless especially because you can actually rev it over 4500 rpm and get usable power. It's just so good that I can't find enough excuses to drive it and i almost feel guilty that everyone doesn't drive one.

anybody else feeling this way?

I don't even have my car yet (although test driven extensively) and yes, I agree, the awesomeness is just totally obnoxious. I mean, when I give it the "beans" (a la Jeremy Clarkson) the performance, and that must mean the "torques", is just epic!

Yep!...your not alone! I've been rollin' a Bimmer since `92 (e30, e46 (2), e53, e39 & e92) along with other brands.

My current e92 M3 is a daily driver for me while living in the Twin Cites (I'm originally from Los Angeles), which says a lot since winters here are no joke . It's simply awesome to have a vehicle with both versatility and sheer 'bad-ass' performance to master most every driving condition (at least with the right tires).

Without a compelling reason, from BMW, to replace the naturally aspired V8...it's a genuinely a keeper IMHO

Had some fun with the M today and made me smile from ear to ear - just the sound of the engine is addicting.

I feel this way as well. I've wanted an M3 since high school. It has taken me 18 years, but I made it happen. The next one on the dream list is a 911.

You own one hell of a machine is what I can conclude after driving a 6 speed manual sedan and M-DCT coupe. Although, I enjoyed the 6MT immensely, but that is a personal thing.

After having driven a 335 as well, I don't know what people are talking about in terms of lack of torque in M3. It is plenty. I did feel the M3 wanted to stall everytime I got off the line releasing the clutch or accelerate off the line, but it must be due to the M-dynamic mode I enabled altering the spark ignition to reign in the power to keep the car from going sideways. I am sure if I had turned off all stability systems, I would be spinning sideways while trying to rev up to 2500 rpm and release the clutch getting off the line.

The driving experience in an M3 is not just all about torque.. I think the key word here is balance. In every sense of the word the car is the most well balanced machine I have ever driven. It speeds up quickly and nimbly, and finesses its way through the twisties so well that it is mind boggling. A car at this price point never felt so good. I absolutely love to feel the wheel in my hands and the feedback from the road is very rewarding.
