comfort key option (starting car with key in pocket)

does this have to be factory fitted or can the dealer add this option after?

the one where you can put the key in your pocket and just start the engine without having to put it inside the ignition.

It would be way too expensvie to retrofit later. All the door handles. locks etc have to be changed out as well as the computer reprogrammed. Someome checked into this last year and it would have been about $2 grand.
