Replace vacuum gauge ?
I'm considering ordering a 128i.
There is one item on the more recent BMWs I've owned that I find ... well, silly. That's what I refer to as the vacuum gauge that supposedly shows gas mileage, near the speedo.; its the one that bounces around. Not sure when/where (possibly a Euro model or an Alpina?) but I seem to recall that there might be a way to replace that gauge with something that is actually useful. Like an oil pressure gauge, or oil temperature, or _______ . Any thoughts ? |

Its not a vacuum gauge but a fuel consumption gauge.
Its more complex than just vacuum. It uses injector duty cycle and current speed to measure instantaneous fuel consumption. You might be able to grab the cluster from a 135i but I don't think the 128i has an oil temp sender on the engine by default so the gauge might just stick to 0. |
