Car wont recognize ipod?

Hi

I have an ipod touch, i plug it into the USB and the computer still asks for me to "insert" the USB cable.

Does anyone know whats going on?

Also, it charges the battery of the ipod. But it wont play music.

That has happened to me before, but after the car was off and back on, it started working. I have really come to dislike the audio system of my 1, I've had a lot of issues with it since taking delivery in October. Lucky for me I've loved driving the car so much I've learned to no sweat the minor things. if it continues to be a problem though, just take it to the dealer and hope for a fun loaner.

Hah, what could the dealer 'replace' to fix this problem?

The whole stereo?

My wifes ipod doesnt work either, different cable...

Mine cuts out every now and then but when I give the cable 1 turn its ok.
I guess the angle of the cable makes a better connection, on mine neway.

I had my stereo replaced because it would not eject discs. They said they replaced it and when i got my car back I was still having the same problem and then my ipod wasnt being recognized. The next day the ipod was working again and has been since. It could be the cable, the connector in the center console, or even connections to the stereo itself. Only way to find out is have the dealer troubleshoot.

I had the same problem - have a 3G iPhone and it won't charge but will recognize songs. Some searching showed that for later iPhones (3g and 3gs) a new cable from dealer may be needed as apple changed how charging pins.

I put in an iPod nano with current cable and it worked just fine. Haven't been back to the dealer to get the current cable but car is only 2-weeks old. Will do when pick up license plate. Do a google search - lots of data on this.

my ipod touch wont work at all in my 09 135, it will charge but doesnt recognize that the usb is plugged in. I have tried different cables etc.... I just use the aux jack and put the ipod in the cup holder so i can use it that way until i figure it out.

You need a new MULF. At least that is what I got after over a week in the shop. Not the ipod, not the cable. THE MULF!

Ok, the dealer said I need to use the auxiliary cable with the USB cable to get it to work. Is this true?

hmm, the cable that came w/ my car has aux and the apple 30pin and the other side is usb, works perfectly fine. works w/ my 120 gig classic and my 3GS

now on my fathers e90, it will not charge the 3GS. Ive been told is the cable, but i havent tried my cable on his car yet
