POI on Nav

This is driving me crazy...

How can I see my selected POI on the MAP without going through the search.. i.e The only thing I see on the map if I have the map showing and I did not add any destination is street numbers..

When I add a destination and I select between routes I see on the mini map on right my selected POI.. but when I go back to the main map I see nothing just street numbers..

I did select the option of show Selected POI on Map.. is this a bug in my software!!

While viewing the map, move the controller to the right to open the option screens. Then select the POI option and, I think..., depress the controller: you can select which POI you want to see on the map, e.g. dining, police/fire, entertainment, etc. I've not explored mine a lot yet but will do so this weekend. Nice sunny day coming up!

I already did that:
- Got to the left icon bar.
- Select POI
- Select couple of POIs. like Gas stations..etc
- Go back to the map. and I see nothing..
- I am sure that the option on the map is set to show selected POI.

I can select all the POI's and all I get are petrol stations and garages
My dad (Mercedes fan) gave me grief about it, saying that it knew it was either going to break or run out of fuel.
(Of course after one down shift and a punch of the throttle he kept quiet)

Really wish they would resolve this.
