Unusual Sounds Question???
Hey all just thought I would ask and see if anyone else is experiencing what I am. When I take my lunch break I usually chill in my car and text on my phone. At times I would hear weird cabin noises like something is shifting behind the dash to the glove box. I'm pretty sure it's nothing major or something simple but it makes me wonder. It's almost like there is a small rodent moving around lol! But I highly doubt that. Also today when I got home my gf mentioned a noise when I cut the car off. It sounded like water dripping onto an exhaust manifold and I concluded that it's most likely water condensation created by the AC because that is what happens on my Volvo when the ac is on in hot weather. I'm just wondering if anyone else is getting the same. I'm pretty sure it was the AC, but the cabin noise when the car is off is making me very curious.

Yeah I've heard those same exact sounds. Sometimes I hear a small thud, more like a crack sound, and I've determined it to be the plastic front quarter panel. Nothing to worry about, I'm sure.

Yesterday after I got home, I opened the drivers door to get out and I could hear a humming type sound coming from behind the left rear wheel. It stopped after about a minute. Never heard it before. But it's true, these cars do emit different sounds from various locations on the outside and inside of the car.

The rodent sounding thing I have traced in my car to be the cd/dvd player. it always shuffles and makes funny sounds. I guess it's normal

You have a lot of crap that keeps running after turning engine off: DVD (Nav) drive, amplifier fan in trunk, transmission cooler motor (probably what most are hearing under the car), speakers 'hiss', etc. All perfectly normal folks . And other than the tranny cooler, all other things mentioned happen as soon as you open a door or trunk, so don't close them all the way if you're going to be working on the car. Or charge the battery afterwards .
