Carbon Fiber rear bumper reinforcement?

I was involved in a small accident where some guy in a truck rear ended my car. The body shop ordered me a new bumper, but they also found that there was a carbon fiber bumper reinforcement broken, which costs around $670 and with labor they are looking at $1200. I was surprised to hear that the part was carbon fiber. The guy at the body shop told me its because its an M3, usually they are made from fiberglass or something. Anyways, thank god his insurance is paying. Anyone know where this part is actually located at? i thought it was cool BMW didn't only use carbon fiber for show.

Couldn't find a picture of it on the car but basically, it is a support behind the bumper. It is made of carbon kevlar.

You can see the cf bumper reinforcement part by looking up from under the rear bumper.
Yes, it's unique to the M3.
