Tools in Trunk
Anyone know what tools suppose to come with your car in the trunk?
So yea I just picked up my m3 and saw in the trunk on the right side compartment that there were tools like a screw driver in a nice little slot but some other slots where empty. Am I missing tools I should have? |

One of the missing slots is the sunroof tool. If you have the CF roof there is no need for that tool.

I am guessing the other one is for changing the tire which is unnecessary for us since E92 M3s don't come with a spare tire. How about the flash light? Is it supposed to come with one?

Here is a picture of my tool kit in my trunk. There is a sunroof wrench which I did not need because my E90 had no sunroof. There is a place for a key for wheels locks, a wrench, screwdriver and a tow hook. What tools do you have missing??

Nickel & Dime Decontenting
BMW has been busy for a while saving pennies decontenting the cars. The flashlights are gone as are most of the tools. The front net hold down hooks in the trunk are gone too as are other items. It's really annoying.

Lol when I read the title of this thread that's the first thing that popped in my head, but I would of replied, "The only tool in an M3 is the one in the driver seat."

ditch the BMW flashlight it sucks, might as well get a Maglite, get a LED Surefire or any Surefire at all.
what I carry in my car always: 1. Surefire E2D Defender Flashlight 2. Emerson pocket knife 3. Leatherman 4. Mechanix Gloves 4. Spare Mags

What tools? lol
I forget what exactly was in there. I think I got a tow-hook...but I did get a killer flashlight (what a POS). Damn things don't even snap in to recharge anymore! geez. Related to the flashlight.............check out what I bought. Its a VW Touareg (gasp) rechargable LED flashlight that plugs into the cig lighter socket. I put mine in the armrest socket. It's always fully charged and is decent enough in an emergency. It's no maglight, but it is small and serves it's purpose. Most importantly, it will always be fully charged, unlike the POS flashlight I got with the car. Pic 1: The light and P/N (7L6 947 175 A) Pic 2: Lighting compared to a "regular" flashlight

Lightwise, I'd get a Surefire 6P and Cree Q5 lamp (LED from TNVC, 220 lumen, 2-3hrs battery run-time, better throw and focus) and you can wale on someone with it, it works, I've done it.
Just remember, LEDs get lousy in fog/smoke, where standard bulbs are more functional. Pelican makes some nice lights, for much less expensive. |

So true, the BMW light truly blows and you're reminded of that every time you'd use it. Don't waste money on it. Get an LED based light that runs on lithium batts and keep an extra set in the car.
