Where do you put your owners manual?

it doesn't quite fit in the glove compartment. does it have an intended spot? i
placed mine in the trunk on top of the "tool kit" area. i know silly question but
my last car had a little slot for it in the glove.

Don't know if you guys have the same thing but behind the rear seat armrest is a place exactly right for the case that holds all the manuals. (UK spec cars).

pet peeve of this car is no specific place for a manual....and don't tell me the trunk. because when i want to look up something i'm never lying in the trunk, i'm sitting in the drivers seat.
my old rs4 had a specific little hide-away spot that no-one could find - made for the manual or other little goodies you wanted to keep hidden.
why it doesn't fit properly into the glovebox is a mystery

There's a real why BMW calls that little slot in the dash a "glovebox". It's because you can fit exactly one glove and no more in that tiny slot.

I think the mystery is why it's so damned small. Maybe it's because the cupholders are taking up space above it.

Yet another thing that the contributes to the car's character I guess. I didn't buy it for the glove box space! I think the Honda Element has a huge glovebox....

And at least I can keep a small drink cold in the center section so that I can then place it in the cupholder and have my passenger spill it all over the car when she hits it with her knee getting out of the car.

Yes it does. Didn't you get the '///M' leatherette manual binder? Fits perfectly in the glove box, but obviously you can't fit all the manuals/booklets the car came with. I just have the owner's manual and maintenance manual there, along with the iPod cable and insurance & registration documents. The rest of the manuals are on the 'BMW' binder, which fits perfectly on its space above the tool kit (in the trunk).

Yes. While I agree that it would be nice to have a slightly bigger glovebox, I haven't found it to be an issue as I have my binder and manual in there no problem. I have to make sure they are positioned just right and the other crap is out but no biggie. I'm guessing that the BMW had their reasons for the size other than annoying legions of owners

I got it too, laughed a bit, tried unsuccessfully to be funny (FTL) , went back to some T-SQL.

You're right of course. My other post was tongue-in-cheek (but I still think the darn thing is pretty small). Mine is set up the same way as well, same items in the glovebox, rest in the trunk as well.

What he said. I don't think it works if you have the ski condom thing.

Anybody else with their manual uploaded on their smartphone? Why bother with the paper brick? Mine is on Air Sharing on iPhone. bmwusa has all manuals since 2005 available for download.

What about putting the manual on a DVD and just playing it through the nav screen when needed. Stores in the glovebox fine.
