Chose M3 over F10...

Well, after much debate I have ordered a 2011 E90 M3 to replace my 2008 550. Basically everything but the Cold Weather Package. DCT. Now the wait begins!! Hope to do Performance Center Delivery in October...

It is a Sept production car w/ delivery in October. No final price yet as the new packages are not pricing out in the dealers system. But I have a production number!!

Thanks guys, debated long and hard between the F10 and the M3. Really looking forward to the M3!!

Hey Bokke, I do remember you from the E60 board! Did not realize you had made the switch too. I am really excited about this car, just could not get excited about the F10. A great car I'm sure, but BMW is clearly moving more to the luxury camp with the F10, not something I was ready to do...

I debated as well. Wife and I liked the 550 but the M3 had so much more to offer above the practical. The 550 is a nice ride to work, the M3 is a kick in the pants ride to work.

I too came from an '08 550i Sport. Loved the car, it was great. Carbon black was also a very unique and awesome color.

For me the choice to get an E92 Competition was easy. The moment I drove it (a regular non-ZCP coupe) it was a done deal.

I drove the F10 535i and the F10 550i, great cars, the 550i has a lot of low-end torque, luxury feeling, it's a great great car no question.

The M3 is just in a different league every which way you think about it.

It is simply a "perfectly tuned car" - there's nothing else like it in this class - I don't care what the Audi S5/RS5, C63 guys say.

The M3 is perfection and BMW knows that.

Congrats!

P.s. When our leases are up, we'll be ready for the F10 M5... But man do I love this high-revving S65 V8 - not a fan of TC/SC engines at all.

I think you will be very happy with this transition! I also came from a 2008 550i sport w/the M aero kit.

I have been very pleased with the M3. I went with the coupe, so that part was an adjustment. I look forward to your thoughts on the new ride once it arrives.

I also came from a 550. The way I see it, the 550 did everything (for the most part well) but not perfect, the M3 is pretty darn close to a perfect car. Love them both, but the M3 makes you want to drive, the 550 will only make you happy when you need to drive.

You cant go wrong with your choice.

I'm curious to drive an F10 just to see how the electric steering feels. That's one more reason to buy an M3: not only it's the last NA V8 M3 (at least for a while), but possibly the last M car to have hydraulic steering as well. On the positive side, the switch to control-arm front suspension was way overdue IMO. However, I doubt 3 series will get it. Good day gang.

To be honest, the lack of feeling from the electric steering was a major factor in moving to the M3 after two E60's. And as I noted earlier, while they may be the future, I wanted to stick with the NA V8 over the twin turbo V8 of the F10.

Good Choice! I was actually in the same position as you but I also decided on the M3. I like my cars sporty and naturally aspirated lol
