how to drive up my driveway? seriously guys :(

So for some reason, I can drive up my driveway perfectly fine.. but I tried backing in my car tonight, I scratched that black styrofoam looking thing under the bumper (not that it wasn't scratched up already, but I actually made a pretty decent sized cut into it..btw anyone know what that thing actually is though?). I tried asking some people with experience with driving outta driveways but they've never really seen a driveway like mine before. Their only response is "sorry bro but theres no way to angle that". my driveway is about as wide as a 760Li in length (meaning if a 760Li were to block my driveway, it'd block it completely.) anyone wanna give me some tips? I find it a little odd that my car doesn't scratch when I drive up...btw my car is stock height LOL. Heres a drawing of my driveway from a sideview (please excuse my child-like drawing skills)

Put a wood board (2 pieces?) in your trunk and use it every time you back out of it?

you caught the joke! I don't actually have a lawn! Its just rocks and cactus. saves me $$$ since I don't actually have to water anything

Maybe I should have posted this in the off-topics section. *facepalm*

In all seriousness though, this is a problem for me LOL (last resort is to make a ramp like what my uncle does with his ferrari, but thats too complicated for me IMO. I just find it odd how I cant back into my garage without scratching, but I can drive in perfectly fine ).

I can't tell you why it happens, but I've encountered the same situation. "Up" fine; "down" not fine. Not with my driveway, but with a couple of oddball ones I've encountered.

LOL I didn't even catch that, GG xD.

IDK, I circled it in red. Honestly, I never noticed that before until today when I went to see what part of the bumper I scratched. (luckily I didn't scratch the bumper itself, just these black things ). I can't imagine these being some kinda buffer against bumper scratches, its a little far back in there...

(might be a little hard to see them, but its there.)

Thanks man!!! As for your air deflector things, you might try going on a different angle. Honestly some quick cement and just not use the driveway for a day until it drys is easy, i wouldnt remove those air deflector things.

Just go really slowly, have a friend look outside to see if you're going to scrape.

I notice the bottom of the E92 has a felt-covered plastic cover across the front underside, which is lower than the actual painted bumper.

I just drive really slowly, crawl, out of driveways.

And nice drawing... LOL

Freaking thread.

Maybe try putting the EDC setting on sport so there isnt so much bounce when backing over that bump. I think the manual even mentions it.

Drawing my house in Germany on MS Paint

On-topic: just drive extremely slowly, and have someone watch if you're really worried. If you really want to keep backing in, then you might need to get out some sort of ramp or some concrete and alter the gap there to prevent the scraping. Otherwise, you might always wind up scraping there.

I'll try doing that tmr and see how it goes. I don't my deflectors to get messed up. sounds kinda important... Hopefully it doesnt create more drag and decrease my fuel economy all joking aside though, Yeah I'll give cementing it a try and see how that goes.

Thanks for all the help guys! I guess this is something you can't really rush. Next time I do this (if I ever do consider doing this again), I'll be sure to tweak my EDC to sport mode, tag a friend along to help check for my bumper, and go up nice and easy

either that or time to sell the house and get something with a non-insane driveway.
