RD Sport Springs People Please Chime In
Just curious how people that have had RD sport springs for awhile now feel about them. Any pics of the springs finally settled?
I'm torn like many of you were between Eibachs and RD Sports. Like many, I want an aggressive drop while being able to maintain a good ride quality. I'm 90% sold on RD sport springs because the drop looks great and a lot say the ride quality is still maintained. I eventually plan on going w/ a coilover system in about 3-4 years. Just want something I can be happy w/. Only reason why I haven't ruled out the eibachs is because I see a lot more great reviews from people about them as opposed to RD sport owners. I definitely want to pull the trigger soon. The 4x4 look ain't cutting it for me anymore. Let me know how you guys like them thus far. |

I just put on my RDs and I like the ride quality. I really cant tell too much a difference from stock, tbh. The look is way better than the 4x4 look as well.

I'm happy with my set of RD springs. I had H&R's on my '08 M3 and like the stance on the RD's better. To me, the RD springs are a bit stiffer than the H&R's and the handling (especially on corners) is tighter than the H&R's.

I had RD Sports for a few thousand miles and i did like them but always knew it wasn't enough travel. Any spring with the exception of dinan (i'm GUESSING that dinan doesnt have this problem) when you go over a huge deviation, the car usually bottoms out on the bump stops on the way down.
Personally if I didn't have coilovers right now I probably would still be on RD Sports... But if I wasn't happy with them then I probably would be on the dinan setup with some aggressive stance. Give or take there is no perfect suspension out for the e9x m3 yet. You pay 2k+ for KWV3's that don't even integrate with the OEM suspension yet they still ride a quite a bit firmer than stock.. Any spring option will never be the perfect alternative and the dinan suspension doesn't look better than stock.. Maybe you should wait to see if BMW's KW suspension to come out?

Ive had the RD springs on my car for about 15K miles and i luv em,car handles like its on rails even up top it feels planted.I also did the Dinan bump stops and shock mounts to allow more travel and i have no complains.
I get thums up about the drop all the time and never had an issue of bottoming out even with 4 ppl in the car. Im also running 255/35 fr,285/30 rr on 19'' with 10 mm spacers all the way around with no rubbing issues |

I ask the same question a while back....
funny how some other people are having problem with the EDC... I said the same thing, your only replacing the springs nothing else the spring is not hooked up to any electronics unless someone installed the EDC incorrectly then maybe you will have errors. spings does not affect EDC............................................... .................................................. ....................................

I got them used from Bart (Bart@AutoCouture). When they were installed on my car, they needed an additional few days of settling time and they got lower. I'm currently on my winter setup right now, but you can definitely tell the car is much lower.
As for the ride, it's not much different than stock. I can hardly tell the difference between the EDC fully off and on the 1st setting (one light on). Bart used to tell me that it's like driving with it w/one light on all the time when he had the springs. To me, it's the same. However, when I put the EDC on the hardest setting (two lights on), the ride is significantly firmer. Hitting larger bumps will shake the entire car. Scary sometimes haha. People in the backseat notice it a lot more too. All in all, I like it a lot. I don't have any pics (since it's still winter and the car is very dirty), but I have a quick video I took a couple of weeks ago. You can see how the wheels (18" winter setup) and fender have much less of a gap (almost none).

Had Eibach, RD Sport, and H&R. The most comfortable one was Eibach, the best drop while still being quite comfortable was RD Sport. Not that much worse than Eibach, actually. H&R IMO was just no bueno on all counts.
My favorite, and the one I'd go for, is the RD Sport springs. And no, none of them ever triggered EDC errors.

RD Sports were on my car for about 12k miles. No issues with EDC. Ride quality was great and the car felt nice and stiff when you beefed up the shocks. The ride height is super low, and I busted 3 front lips (two 3D and one Arkym). I loved the look, BUT, one gripe I had was that the suspension felt like it bottomed out in the front under heavy cornering and braking + any bumps in the road... i.e. be ready for understeer if you start pushing the limits.
I've since swapped to GCs with their aggressive street set of springs. Going in for alignment on Thursday.
