Back seat center armrest on M3 coupe

Flipped it down for the first time tonight and it flopped out on its own and looks to be held on by only velcro...What the heck? My 335 had a hinge? Is this normal...

By the way, the new vinyl sunvisors aren't too bad...they look much sleaker than the fabric ones which were thicker and the vinyl didn't feel as cheap as I thought it might...so not bad.

I'm afraid so. Unlike in the 335i, the center portion in the M3's rear seat is not an armrest. I find it rather embarrassing rear seat passengers try to use it...

Yeah, just read in the owner's manual that the armrest was deleted to save weight.....OK? I also noticed that means there are also no cupholders in the back then.

If you are happy with the vinyl visors that come on the 11's, thats all that really matters. I think they are an embarrassment from the previous 08-10 which have the much more solid feeling anthracite cloth visors.

However, I would hope that you can remove the ugly airbag warning labels easier on your vinly visors then on the previous anthracite cloth visors. Even though I removed the labels on my cars original visors, I could still see some residue from the label. I finally just installed a pair of euro visors. Much cleaner look without those ugly warning labels.

The M3 coupe has always been this way. (Someone likened it to a scrotum sac.) The sedan however, has a hinged armrest with cupholders. Is this still the case with the '11 MY?

Cheers.

The guy was impressed...

I just realized something...

OMG! BMW is genious for functionality!

Check this out:

As you all know, rear seats of E92 can only take 2 passengers, right? Why couldn't we take the 3rd passenger on rear seats somewhere in the rear seat? Well, because of that stupid harsh hard plastic Ceter Consol right between the 2 rear seats... but now, with the new detachable "pad/armrest" one can just detach the pad, place it right on rear center consol between the 2 rear seats, and your 4th lovely passenger can seat right on the "padded ceter consol"... she would have to spread her legs though... but she can get a 20 minute ride there easily! Isn't that awesome? All jokes aside,- you can now ride 3 people on rear seats, thanks to BMW genious "pad/armrest". Not sure about seatbelt though?
When I had my E92 335i with normal hinged armrest, the armrest would occasionaly be used for occasional passenger's elbows and that's about all (my girlfriend never liked the armrest anyway).

While driving today I used the visors a little bit and I do agree they seem cheap. They look ok I think, but feel cheap... Are the fabric covered ones thicker? Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for the euro visors and was a US dealer able to order them?

thanks.

You guys just saved me a trip to my dealer to get my rear arm rest fixed haha. My friend was in the backseat and I told him he could pull it out as that's how it was on my E92 335i and it just flopped around. I told him he broke it haha. I was gonna take it in to get fixed but now I see it's how it's supposed to be haha.

at first i thought it was a little odd too, but then i realized that the main function for that piece was a cover for the pass through to the trunk, not an armrest.
