I have a 2011.5 E90 with only ZCP (no iDrive or ZCV). Basically the only adjustments you can make is the EDC, M Engine Dynamics (Power) button and DCT DriveLogic settings. If I recall correctly, you configure those three the way you want and then hold down the M Drive button for a few seconds to set them into the key memory. Enabling M Drive always turns on M Dynamic Mode and puts the Servotronic steering into sport mode.
I'm not sure whether there is a Sport-Plus mode for the M Engine Dynamics as advertised with ZCP...I didn't get much time to try it out while in Europe. My E90 is awaiting transport back from Germany so I can't look in the manual, and the online manual is an older version then what shipped in the car. |

Thanks for the reply mike. I'll be curious to hear more once you get your car back.
That's good news if you can program the Power setting - previous information had left that detail out. Also, the Sport Plus Power question is another one I would like answered. I don't think Sport Plus will be available, but perhaps it is somehow. The other thing that I am really curious about is if it will let you program S6 (which requires DSC OFF, obviously) to the M Button. |

Another thing that I have wondered about is, do all cars (even those with IDrive equipped) now have the ability to program by holding down the M Button.

My big question is can this be retrofitted to older cars? (including dealer reprogramming of course).

Thanks for checking in, FastM3. I'll be interested to hear more once you receive your car and have had a chance to play with MDrive.
Put the car in S5, turn off DSC by holding down the button, and then click the drivelogic switch up one. FWIW, this will work with IDrive and non-IDrive car alike. Quote:

If someone with a 2011.5 with IDrive happens to read this thread, I wonder if you could check and see if you can help with the answer to my question above.

Thanks I'll give it a try not using idrive. Wonder if another bar shows up on the dash.

It will be visible in outline once you turn off DSC, and when you click the Drivelogic switch it will fill in. While you are in S6 mode, you might as well do a launch with LC. That's my philosophy anyway. |

:-) I only have a couple of hundred miles yet so I'll have to wait a bit to do a launch. I'll try to remember on the way home to try holding the M button down to select settings.

Confirmed that in my 2011.5 holding the M button down does not store the current settings. Basically it switches to your presets immediately. The button reception itself must be different on the non idrive cars to allow selection of current settings by holding it down and have the stored selections chosen on a quick release.

It's pretty quick and easy via Idrive. You're not really changing it all that often really. I do not like the fact that you can not have sport servotronic unless you use M mode though.

I am currently in the process of forming a deal on an m3 with no iDrive. I searched and found a lot of information and have this question.
On ordering my m with zcp, will I have the same customization with or without iDrive? I want to get the full benifits of zcp but don't want to miss out performance wise if I don't order with iDrive. I ask strictly in regards to performance options. Meaning, basicaly can I get the same max performance settings with no iDrive? Or are there options not available in the car if you order with just DCT and ZCP. Thank you for your responses in advance. |

Fishyducky (where did you get that name?), you asked:
"On ordering my m with zcp, will I have the same customization with or without iDrive?" Answer: No. You need idrive to access the power mode "Sport Plus." Without idrive (also referred to as the Navigation package) your "Power" selections are confined to the power button on the shift console. That button allows only two power modes: "Normal" and "Sport." See "M3 supplemental owners manual" page 33. The wording is convoluted, but that's the implication. Disclaimer: I don't own an M3. It's waiting for me in Munich. |
