SWS-8 with premium audio. What amp and where?

I am planning on doing the SWS-8 under seat sub install using the Technic harness.

Can anyone with this setup on an e92 with individual audio give their opinions on the amp that they have used.

I am between a Rockford p300-2 or JL 300/2 at the moment, but want a stealth install, so pictures of the amp fitted in whichever location would be great.

Any other tips on this install would be appreciated as well.

Not sure about those two, but Alpine PDX or JL XD amps will fit under the trunk floor. There is also a space where the OEM satellite unit usually sits, and I've seen people put amps in there. But they should be digital, due to lack of ventilation.

Why don't you ask Technic, he has a lot of experience with this.

Where does the satellite unit fit? Is a digital amp better than analogue?

I had a digital Infinity amp a few years ago which sounded great, but the interference that it put out was terrible.

Digital amps are the way to go, especially in our cars. You can tuck them away behind a panel, they don't draw as much current from the electrical system, and they sound great. The sat unit "space" in your case would be under the trunk floor, on the passenger's side, adjacent to the rear seat bench.

Just had a look at the JL XD amps which look pretty good.

I would be going for the 2 ohm SWS-8s, so would I be advised to go for the XD300/1 ?

Personally, I would go with the XD400/4 and bridge into two channels (200W a side @ 4ohm), and get the 4 ohm SWS-8. The underseat woofers play some of the midbass frequencies, and ideally you want these in stereo. However, I had them hooked up as mono before and did not notice any difference, but a trained ear might be able to tell (or if you have OCD you now must get a 2 channel solution ).

Yep. Exactly my setup. 2X200W into 4 ohms is the ticket. I'd keep things stock as to running them in stereo since the factory DIRAC is still controlling things. Not sure if they manipulate the bass stuff in stereo or the crossover point. XD400/4 it is. Mine is in trunk on left side panel for adjustment purposes. All wiring looks factory and hidden.

I just got my car back yesterday from the installation and it is 100X better. Crisp tight bass. Wow. Clear and much more defined. You feel the air too.

Even though one of my SWS8s has an issue!!! We had to get a new one and it will be here in a few days. For now, the driver side has the stock woofer and the passenger has the SWS8. Even with that setup, it is 100X better. Can't wait to get the other SWS in. The installer is a good friend and as soon as it arrives, he pop it in. The first one had a bad voice coil rub or misalignement. Speaker was scratchy.

You have not met the minimum amount of posts to PM other members yet.
Elias (Technic) wire harness is great it will simplify your install. You probably want to get in touch with Jason (jtsherri) to get his Spacers again these will simplify your install.
