To Do Breaks And Clutch ????
Well my car finally showed up yesterday. picked up a E90 with 19k. I am wondering can anyone tell me when it is recommended to do breaks ?
they feel okay but sometimes under hard stops I am getting some vibration. Also 1st to 2and feels ruff to me. what kind of life do the OEM clutches have ?Not sure if I am jumping the gun, just dont want to run into mantance issues already |

First to second is always a little jerky you have to baby it sort of... And the brakes probably do not need to be changed... You probably only need to clean it by doing hard stops like from 60 to 10 never to a full stop... It usually gets a vibration because there is some brake pad stuck on the rotor and that is how you clean it off.

vibration is usually from uneven pad deposits on the rotors. you can have the rotors machined to get rid of this -- or else get new rotors. pads should be replaced when they get down to about 20% 1st to 2nd is the hardest shift -- get used to it or shift more slowly

Ciao Manto -- on my old e46, I had 72,000 miles on it with all original brakes and pads. An M3 could easily go to 80,000 - 90,000 without changing the brakes, depending on your driving style of course. I drove the car hard but didn't use my brakes unnecessarily (I down shifted a lot and didn't race up to red lights and stop signs and I did a lot of hwy miles). As far as the clutch, hard to say, but again, mine was fine and didn't show any signs of needing to be replaced.
I know the e46 is different from the e9x but I'm confident at 19,000 miles you don't have to worry about your brakes, unless the previous owner drove the car excessively hard and was unkind to your brakes. I recommend stopping by your dealer, they will gladly check your brake wear with a special tool they have. You don't have to change the brakes until your pads are showing 2mm - 3mm left. Hope that helps. Enjoy your new (used) car! A Presto

I haven't encountered this with the M3, but with a Z4 BMW will not sell a car with less than 5mm on the pads. But the BMW Warranty won't cover brake pad replacement until 2mm. I assume you're under warranty.
