Dealer replacing brakes easily?
I am wondering if the dealers refuse to replace brakes for those that do track days? Providing there is no "obvious" signs of track use, I would suspect bringin it in after less than 5k on a set of brakes would pretty much give it away...
So do most track folks just change brakes somewhere else? |

They should change brakes based on CBS- Condition Based Service.
Dealer- tech measures break pads and rotors and if worn beyond allowable thickness, they have to replace under Warranty/Maintanance, no questions asked. Did I get it right?

Well I understand that normally they do but NOT if it was secondary to track use-if they can show that. My point is they are likely going to suspect track use if you only go 4-5k miles from the last brake service/pad change. In that case I suspect they would "investigate" and look for evidence of track use. Then when they found it they would not only deny the brake service but then you are tagged forever and they can deny you future warranty claims.
My point is perhaps it is better not to give them any reason to be suspicious and change brakes elsewhere if you are going throuh them faster due to track use?? |

Brought mine in for the 1,200 mile service in December at 1,400 miles and the front pads were down to 2mm. BMW initially refused to cover them "due to excess wear and tear", but my dealer convinced them to "goodwill" them and got them covered. Just depends how good of relationship you have with your dealer.
