2011.5 standard M Drive without EDC, possible?
Does anyone have a 2011.5 M3 WITHOUT iDrive, EDC or ZCP but still get the M Drive?
I understand that for 2011.5 models, the M Drive comes standard. However, is it ture that I'd at least to have EDC (or ZCP, which also includes EDC) to get the M Drive on any M3?? http://blog.caranddriver.com/2011-bm...ndard-m-drive/ I'm about to place order on E90 M3 this coming week, will greatly appreciate any inputs. |

If you get EDC then it will closer to the real M Drive, as you could select the pre-stored EDC setting. If you get iDrive and EDC then you will get the full M Drive feature, with Sport Plus throttle and the M Key features. |

Has anyone already have such a combination delivered (2011.5 w/o EDC and w/o iDrive)? How do you like it? |

Someone posted the scan of 2011.5 M3 supplemental Manual about how it operates.

It is admittedly unclear, but what the author of the blog post was trying to say is that you now only need to add EDC to have all the chassis adjustability and programability that you used to have to pay $3250 for. He was not trying to say that you had to opt to do this *period* to get M Drive, just that you could do this and get the same functionality that used to cost three times as much (Of course he was technically wrong on that since, you do give up Sport Plus power setting). But yes, its true that a car with standard M Drive and no EDC/ZCP - and additionally, for example, lets say also does not have M-DCT - will only have a single customizable setting - and that will be the Power setting. And even that setting will only have two choices - either Normal or Sport. As you say, the other two MDrive features - MDM and Sertotronic Sport mode - will be hardcoded to the M Button. Of course, 99% of people would set those to the M Button anyway, so the loss in functionality is minimal at worst. Oh, and as far as the M-Key features go, only Sport or Normal Power, and EDC are available. But for a non-IDrive M3, those settings are remembered across restarts per key automatically. Well - they are supposed to be. There have been some complaints here that that is working properly for some folks. |
