USB and iDrive
I'm leaving tomorrow at 3pm from LAX to Munich to get my E92 space gray M3 on Monday.
I'm getting all my MP3's together, and I'm wondering how the USB port works with iDrive? Can I download the music from it to the iDrive? Or does the USB stick always have to be plugged in? Thanks! |

I find it best to have my "core" music - the stuff I know I like - on the internal hard drive while other new music that I am trying out, I put on a USB stick and play it directly from the stick using the USB port in the armrest. |

In my car whenver I add music it creates a folder named USB#. Everytime you copy music to it a new folder will be created. It doesn't organize it very well but you can rename the folder and delete individual tracks. I haven't found a way to add all music into one folder though. The transfer rate is slow as hell. I just throw in the drive and copy as I'm driving. At least you can listen to it while its copying.

I don't have the iDrive, I have the advance radio the selection gives me on the radio let s me play my iPod Touch Playlist once I plug it in inside the center armrest. In your case of course it is all different with the iDrive so sleep well and let the folks at Die Welt explain it to you all. Congratulations on the new wheels and have fun on the Autobahn. Keep in mind the gas is expensive (even more so on the Autobahn gas stations) like 1.58 Euro per Litre that works out to around $8.40 US per US Gallon. So pull off the Autobahn to a small community and have a meal there and fill your tank. You might save quite a few Euros Happy Travels

You can always get a 16GB microSD card for the center armrest USB port. You can fit a lot of songs on such a card.

I'd leave everything on the USB flash drive too. You can rearrange folders, rename anything, add any tags you want, record more songs, erase, etc. on your computer's USB drive, then just plug it in your car. Mine doesn't have a HDD, but I wouldn't use it if I had it anyway.
