How to tell if Technology Package is present?

I'm looking to buy a used 2008/2009 m3 (E92), often the ads aren't very descriptive so I'm wondering how to best tell which options are on the car.

For example, the Technology Package (Ztp), if present on the car there would be a button labeled "EDC" near the shifter and a "M" button on the steering wheel. If not present, it would be safe to assume the car doesn't have the Technology Package?

M button is the telltale.

You can have EDC wthout the Technology Package.

Look for M button... Navi can be bought stand alone

Don't mean to jack the thread but it looks like OP's question has been answered. Does anyone know how to tell if the car has the premium audio? I have an 08 e90.

^ if it has the premium the speaker cover should be chrome or silver basic option are just plain black.

There is a minor charge, however, it will give you all the answers, the previous owner(s) may have added mods, you can find that out fairly easy by carefully inspecting your car and the VIN Report
