New to the Forum, New M3 (Frozen Grey)- Pics Included
Hey guys,
New to the forum, but not new to being a total piston head. ;-) Having just sold an E46 M3 I was on the hunt for a replacement as a daily driver. I have a few other vehicles, but none are really daily drivers. After lots of test driving I had narrowed it down to the C63 AMG (love the engine) and an M3 E92. I could not decide between the two. The only thing that really drew me to the C63 was that engine... Then, one afternoon, I was browsing through Autotrader with a beer in hand and saw a new ad for a new 2011 Frozen Grey M3. Interesting, I had thought these all got sold out in 14 minutes back in July. I called the dealer in NJ, and it turned out to be true. They had one. Apparently some guy put his deposit down and acquired it, but then never turned up, never emailed, never called. The dealer sat on it for almost 10 months and then decided to sell. I was lucky enough to see the ad, literally the hour it went up. My trouble is, I always need something different. Loved the Frozen Grey color, so I decided to purchase it and ship it back to California. (got a good deal on it too). Initial thoughts: Love the exterior color, interior is growing on me. Love the engine, PDK and its just a nice place to be as a daily driver. Not as fast as I imagined it would be, but I am used to something quite quick (a 550bhp 2,150 lb custom builder Noble M400). In short I love it. Check list of things to do, some in progress: Satin guard installation (using Premier Protective Films http://www.premiermobilegroup.com/ , these guys are awesome. I used them on my Noble and they did a fantastic job. They have a Satin clear film which is *exactly* the same texture and look as the frozen paint. I am having them wrap the entire front and the usual bits. I can not recommend them highly enough) Exhaust BMW Carbon Fiber splitter and spoiler Rear Diffuser (need to pick one) Back grills and side markers. Body paint reflectors Spacers Black GTS wheels (OEM) I also loaded up with some goodies from SwisVax to deal with the Matte paint, we shall see how it goes. Pictures below and one of the Noble ! Hope to learn from and contribute to the forum! -Gman |

Regarding black OEM ZCP wheels, I am going that route as well.
I just called Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo yesterday to talk to them about it and the wheels are backordered even in Germany, so we can't even place an order. But when they become available we should buy together and take some pics!

Beautiful Car!
As for the ZCPs, the black ones are hard to find. I just had my silver ones powdered coated a textured matte black for my SG E93. Came out great. Came to $150/per. I had CEC on Santa Monica do them. Probably could have gotten it for less, but i was having springs put on and frankly, I'm lazy so i had them do it. Plus $150/per is 1/4 the price of 4 rims. The work was amazing...better than expected. I highly recommend that as an option. Ask for Gordan at CEC.

congrats, that car looks amazing!! Being in Hermosa Beach as well, I would love to check that thing out sometime (dont find too many forum members around here ). I'll be heading up to the event in Camarillo as mentioned above, I'm sure we could get a mini-caravan going from the south bay.
And have no idea how I haven't seen that Noble around before??

Frozen Gray FTW!! Congrats and welcome!
How many miles did it have? Have you already had the 1200 mile service? If not, then it's too early to judge how fast the car is...

Congrats, I have seen your car in person. There was a BMWCCA meeting at BMW of Morristown where they rolled out your car for us to see. It's beautiful, glad to see someone enjoying a Frozen Grey car and not putting it away in storage.
Nice collection of cars. My friend just sold his Noble for a GT3, it was an awesome car. Dave |

I'm really thinking about powder coating my 220Ms instead of going for the GTS wheels, if so I will use these folks, thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks for the welcome guys!!! I have to be honest I have never been a BMW fan until I decided to try the E46 M3, and now the E92 M3 has sealed the deal for a daily driver. I am a big fan of light weight and good linear power delivery. So many cars these days are big fat lumbering oafs... which is why I love the Noble!! its back to basics, handles like nothing else, mine weights 2150 lbs and has 550bhp approx.. so its quite quick...
PKL, thanks for the comments, I will definitely be glad to meet up sometime, I used to live in SM and know it well. Maybe we get the wheels powder coated at the same time for a deeper deal? ;-) although the silver wheels are kinda growing on me, which was leading me to thinking of getting a 2nd set in black.. not sure. Dingo, your friend sold his Noble for a GT3? whaaaaattt!!!?? ;-) I think I know who you mean, he posts to the Noble Forum occasionally ? Yup, wheels will be going black.. just got to figure out the texture.. gloss would suit the trim but I worry about upkeep as they will show scratches pretty easily.. Seattle S65B40, yeah I still need to break the 1200 mile and get the service.. delivered it had 5 miles on the clock.. ;-) kiwistu, thanks man, the Noble is insane... and I love it.. and believe it or not I am English.. living in California, and yes the truck in the back is mine.. F350, 10" lift and 40" tires.... lol... thats the vehicle that takes us mountain biking, snowboarding, dog walking and sky diving. bsiciliano, thanks for the info on the powder coat guys, I will certainly chat to them. GOLFFRR, thanks ! I will see if I can make it up that way for the meet! |
