I messed up..Help needed

I have recently purchased a 2011 BMW M3 in Mineral White pearl and after about a thousand miles i notice a small chip in the clear coat on my rear fender. Being anal i touched it up and was going to use the Langka product to flatten the blob. This did nothing at all. The blob remained and no matter what i tried i could not get it off. I would have left it alone if i knew this would have been the result. A friend suggested i use nail polish remover so in a last ditch effort i tried gently rubbing the remover on the blob. Not only did it remove the blob but it also left a yellowish looking tinge about the size of a silver dollar on my fender. Nothing i did could remove the yellow. is there anything i can try or is it time to head to the body shop. Your help is very appreciated.

thats like rubbing gasoline on your paint... I think your a bit screwed. Try some scratch X and see if it rids the yellow. Usually works on discolored paint, good luck. But I think this may be beyond scratch X

+1 on the scratch x or other abrasive. Nail polish (contains acetone) shouldnt harm cured paint. Perhaps the yellowing is caused by the clearcoat that you spread around while attempting to wipe it off. You can also try to clean the paint chemically, start off light with alcohol and then mineral spirits then acetone as a last resort (test first on an inconspicuous part of the car).

Mine came new with a chip in the clear coat. They're repainting my whole fender. A buddy of mine who has done a lot of body work for me also said that's what they would have to do. Can't piece meal it and expect it to blend.

Good for the body shop not so good for your wallet

Glad you got it figured out.

I like the way you move. Instead of making a post crying about your orange peel and how bmw could have made a car like this, you take affirmative action. I applaud you, sir.

they only charged $80 to get the stain and chip out and they are wet sanding and polishing the entire car for $350 so its really not to bad...their work it out of this world as well...they are a factory authorized Lambo, Ferrari, and Aston Martin repair center...and as for complaining about the orange peel this is my 3rd M3 and right before it i had a 2010 Audi S5...all german cars are the same deal....its a way of life...

I tried Langka too. It is worthless - didn't fix my problem at all.

The owner and I ended up having a mutual friend so he's helping out with the pricing. He was very reasonable on the wet sand but a little higher then most for the wheels..so it all evens out in the end

Success!
Next time, don't try to use household crap on your car. I think Langka needs to be used within a certain time of applying the touchup. If it's been too long, go to compound followed by swirl mark remover and finally a normal polish. You can save some time with some very fine sandpaper (like 1600 grit) but be careful to only work the blob.

And finally, don't bother with the brush that came with the touchup paint. Use a round, sharp toothpick to drop the touchup paint exactly into the chip. Use multiple coats if needed to slowly build it up and avoid the blob.
