I've owned a DSG GTI (modded) and it IS the tranny of the future.
Also driven a few modded A3s as well.

BMW has been trying to do this for years and just hasn't got it right.

Supposedly, the M3 will be the car they launch it on.

If you've never driven one...... a DSG in a new M3 will be KILLER !!!

The benefit over 6MT will be at least .3-.4 sec, simply the time it takes a mortal to shift from 1st to 2nd.

Yea, I'm wondering this too. Even though I realize that the whole point of the DCT is superfast computer-controlled twin clutch shifting, but is there even going to be an option to shift manually. If thats not the case even a steptronic would have a higher degree of driver interaction?

Edit: Well after watching the GTI video, I kind of answered my own question
