Nav DVD for 08 M3

I just got rid of my 2007 335i for a 2008 M3. I had a burned 2011 Nav DVD that worked great in my 2007 335i, but won't in my 2008 M3. I thought they took the same DVD.

Any suggestions?

4. Insert DVD #1 in your iDrive and follow the prompts
Step 2 may be your problem.

Step 1 is my problem too (don't tell). Was that procedure implemented in 2008? My 2007 didn't need all those steps...just put the DVD in.

Maybe because your 335i was already coded for that DVD
That DVD obviously didn't match the code stored on your M3. CCC system should be identical AFAIK. The DVD should have the code etched somewhere, no? If not, call your dealer for the code. If it's an illegal copy, you're SOL.

AFAIK all DVD based NAV's dont need a code. I burned a few NAV DVD's for a friend with an E60 550i and he never had a problem.

What year did the M3s go to a hard drive based NAV? How do I tell which kind I have? If the car requires the DVD to be in there at all times, is that how?

I re-burned it, and now it works. I guess it was just a bad DVD
