iPod Random Shuffle Operation
My car is a '10 model 135i with the BMW iPod adapter option. When new I was able to set the iPod to "shuffle" and enjoy that. After an OS update on the iPod, the shuffle would not work from the unit. I then started using the "Random" setting in the car stereo which would become the default setting in the stereo.
Two weeks ago the iPod crashed while playing in the car and required a hard reset to bring it back to life... Ever since that incident, every time that I start the car I have to select "Random" in the stereo for it to shuffle the songs. Anybody else experienced issues like this? Any ideas about how to make it work again where I can just set it either in the iPod or the stereo so that I don't have to mess with that every time? I know that this is a minor annoyance, but maybe someone here in the forum has dealt with the same issue. Thanks! |

I have had this exact problem! I had to reset my iphone 4 while driving and now Random doesn't always work and is never preselected. If I don't select anything, the car plays my music in alphabetical order. Despite my iphone always being on shuffle.
If you find a solution let me know! Also my up and down buttons are reversed on the steering wheel. Is it possible to change what they do? Thanks, -NurEinser |

Had the same issue. I haven't tried to figure it out...I just listen alphabetically which is kinda cool too.

What is the normal operation of the up/down buttons on the steering wheel? On the loaner I had last week, Down was next track. On my car, Up is next track.

Up for next track, Down for previous/start-of-current-track. Hold for skim in same direction.
