Windshield Replacement in Houston
Got a star this morning on the way to work and it has already spread like no other over the past few hours.
OEM BMW is $708.08 through the parts dept and does not include labor. Safelite is $394.95 including labor and lifetime warranty. What do you guys think? I am concerned about fitment and optics along with structural integrity. Is the OEM that much better? Any experiences with Safelite? Can anyone recommend an alternative? TIA |

I personally would stick with OEM as I have heard (at least on the E46) that some aftermarket windshields interfere with the rain and/or light sensors. Safelite does do quality work, have had a few friends use them in the past, and they do stand by their warranty. You could always call Safelite back and ask them how much it would cost for an OEM windshield. Also check with your insurance company and see if they will pay for the replacement cost since some do have that as part of their policies ie Liberty Mutual.

Call James at Sunshine Glass 713-922-3404. He does all the work for Momentum. His work is excellent. He came to my house and changed the windshield on my 650i. Great guy.....Phil

I used safelite and when they showed up they said "hey are you sure you don't want and OEM windshield?" We rescheduled and they came back in two days with and installed an OEM windshield. It was $60 more, but I think it depends on your insurance coverage.
They did a great job, showed a lot of care, and brought it to my office. I recommend Safelite to anyone. |

What's the telephone number to Safelite and how much for OEM? I was quoted around $800 for OEM. My insurance deductible is $1,000, so I'm probably gonna have to pay out of pocket if I do decide to replace the windshield (leaning toward not getting it replaced though).

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I found a bit of a better deal on OEM so I will go with that.
Safelites number is (713) 353-4200 but it takes you to a call center. Ill try giving James as Sunshine Glass a call today. |

Yup. Had this done today by James at Sunshine Glass. He did a great job and gave me the best price I could find on an OEM BMW windshield replacement. Total came to $544 installed. Highly recommend him....thanks for the suggestion ///M Ryder
