Tint problems
I\'ve tinted my E90 front windshield 3 times with 3 different tints(all 35%) and result is always the same: the view is fuzzy, blurry and dangerous, My other problem is that the inside tint of windows will be ruined/scratched if you ever roll down your window.
I don\'t have answer to first problem but second problem seems to have to do with of lack felt on inside rubber and it\'s supposedly an easy fix. Has anybody had similar tint problems? |

Are you seriously tinting your front windshield? That can't be legal; not even in Florida. I have never seen anyone tint the windshield. Not safe and makes no sense. Buy a pair of sunglasses.

Lots of people get a very light tint on the front to prevent UV damage to the interior. I would say 35% is way too dark for the front and really serves no purpose (except getting pulled over a lot), so you might want to go up to about 50%.
Seems like the tint problems you have are either poor quality tint or poor installation procedures. The tint on my car is perfect and has none of the issues you mentioned. The E90 issue is well known, and if you do a quick search in the forums here you'll find that most people also purchase these tint protectors. The installer (if they know what they are doing) can install these tint protectors too along with the tint. It's basically a moleskin like lining installed to prevent scratching on the E90 windows. http://www.tintprotector.com/

I've an '11 and had the tint scratch problems and bought the tint protector moleskin.
The instructions are very easy to follow and I can't imagine anyone having an issue following them. No issues since installation. |

Since he talks about rolling down his windows, I'm gonna assume that he's not putting 35% on the front windshield but the front driver and passenger windows. 35% on the windshield is crazy.
OP, how long did you leave it on? For the first days or weeks, the tint can look like that before it completely adheres to the window (solution/moisture still under the film). |

Let's see if he chimes in, but he used the word "windshield" instead of window and used in the singular. Also mentions a seperate issue with the side windows which implies the OP understands the difference between the words windshield and window.
Maybe he only drives the car during daylight hours. |

I went to a reputable shop in LA to have my windows tinted and have a clear bra installed. I did 35 percent all around and the guy offered me 78 percent on windshield, i hesitated since I have never had windshield tinted. Well, after consideration, I agreed and happily left the shop. The bra and windows turned out great, almost flawless, which i was expecting since these guys charge premium prices. but windshield kept bugging me. It was slightly blurry, the guys assured me that it will go away after 2 wks once the film cures. I believe them, but what was bugging me even more is that it was a tad dark for my taste. I had them remove it after driving for a few days. Just not my piece of cake. I will never tint my windshield again.

I'm not an albino but I have vitiligo and I only drive the car at night with the hi beams on. The windshield is tinted but 35% is too dark, moot point now that it's off the car.
Living in the Fl with black interior makes for extremely hot cabin. After windshield tint was placed there was prob 25-30 degree difference during the day. The reasons for tinting any window are the same no matter which one it is: reduce cabin temperature, keep people from seeing in and it makes the car look cool. As for legality, of course it is illegal. But so is exceeding the speed limit which is prob something we all do everyday. I posted to see if anybody who has tinted their windshield has had similar problems with visibility. The problem persisted after usual drying period. My thought is that it probably has something to do with optics or crappy tint. As for scratches tint protector arrived today and is already in place. |

I have 30% (or was it 35?) Ceramic all around, and 60% ceramic (or was it 50? It's been almost a year since i did it, and I've taken multiple cars to get tinted, hard to remember the specs exactly) on the Windshield
No issues at all, and it flows well with the car. I don't like it when you have tint on the windows but not the windshield I had eye surgery last year, and due to this, my eye doctor ordered me to get light tint on all of my cars, I have a letter for it as well. I presented it to a judge last year for my previous car and he dismissed the ticket on the spot. It looks a lot darker in pics than in person I have 50% all around on the Z4, windshield included: Again, it looks darker in pics than in person http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=603513

Second, the side windows, well I never had issues with that also it depends on the quality of workmanship. On my cars the tint work was done at establishments that the dealer is using to do the cars.

It looks like Florida Law states that you can only TINT the FRONT windshield above the AS-1 Line (pretty much about a 4 or 5 inches from the top.)
