Patch coming for seat belt annoyance

Just got a call from my service tech today after I emailed him regarding the hassle of putting on the seat belt every time you want to move the car even 1". He told me that this understandably has been a big pain in the butt for the dealers and mechanics as well. He's going to check tomorrow with the head tech but his understanding is that there's either a patch to delete this function or one coming soon. If it's here has anyone gotten it (did it work)?

Keeping my fingers crossed as I'm tired of putting on the seat belt to move any distance (once you're rolling you can remove the seat belt and keep going, so I don't really get the safety feature of this function since you get the gong and warning light in the dash if you forget to fasten your seat belt). I'm all in favor of wearing seat belts all the time when driving, just not when the pump at the gas station I picked doesn't work and have to move the car 15' to get to another pump.

What's this...are you saying your car won't move unless you have your seatbelt on?

I have an '11 DCT that I can drive without my seatbelt if I wanted.

Im confused as well. Your car doesnt move at all if your seat belt isnt fastened? News to me. My car does not operate this way. Are you simply referring to the seatbelt chime being eliminated? If so, why would you want to do that? Maybe Im just not understanding.

Correct.

Imagine how weird it is having to dyno with the seatbelt on.

What happens if you unbuckle at 20mph?

I just picked up my '12 at PCD on Friday, and do not have this software. If there is anyway to check which version I have, I'd be happy to do that for ya'll.

I'm not 100% sure but i think it should tell you on I drive under version?

The thing is, you can drive it without seatbelt but you have to touch the break, put it in gear and quickly go from brake to gas... Then you can drive until you make a stop again and move your leg from the brake.

Dumbest update they ever did imo.

I think, based on what was posted in another thread, that this was a bug introduced in a particular periodic DCT software update (a version introduced ~ October 2011), so you only have this "feature" if you happened to get this DCT software update on your car, based on being in for some type of service that required a DCT software update. Most DCT owners have never had this version applied.

I went in for the DCT update due to clutch engagement lag about a month ago and have been plagued by this ever since. It has actually gotten me in trouble a few times. I believe it is very danagerous and can't wait for this patch. Anyone have an ETA?

Take it to the dealer now... Mine has just been updated and I don't have this issue anymore. Back to Normal for me.
