M-DCT or 6MT???
what's up...
I am a few days away from closing a deal on selling my 2009 e92 M3 6MT. Now, I plan to possibly purchase a new 2011 e90 M3 sedan (6mt or M-dct idk yet. I know that BMW is no longer making the M3 sedan, but here's my problem/question. I've been driving manual transmissions since the day I got my drivers license. I have NEVER even test driven an M-DCT M3 nor any car w/ dual clutch transmission. I have always LOVED the feeling of having full control of the transmission while driving.. So, how would you compare driving a 6MT to driving a M-DCT?? A friend of mine told me it's about a -20% in fun factor?? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time friends |

OP, there are many threads that essentially contain the substance of any replies that will be posted after this one.
There's good news and bad news. The bad news: None here other than yourself is in a position to decide for you. The good news: You say that already "love" the MT...

Go test drive and see how it feels. We can't decide if you'll be able to live it long term. There are people on both sides of this debate.

You should test drive a M-DCT then decide for yourself ...
Good luck

There are a million oppinions on this... Drive the DCT, go home think about it. Drive it again, and the decision should be obvious. I've always driven a MT, I drove the DCT twice and bought a 6MT.

You got that right.. I believe my salesman told me that there are 8 available, in which only 2 or 3 are well equipped and not 2000 miles away.
The colors available are: Jerez Black w/ Silver Interior IB w/ Red Leather interior Silverstone w/ Bamboo???? Interior (Which I really dont like at all) So either I am going to have make a decision quickly, or consider another e92, which pretty much defeats the purpose in selling mine. I'm pretty much in a PICKLE |
