Who wants to see my smashed up M3? - accident

It's my fault. I was coming off a circular on-ramp from one road to another. The road was really crummy quality, I gassed it too much out of the bend, hit a bump in the road, the back jumped out, tried to correct it, failed.

Here's the aftermath:

Besides the minor body damage, the ball joint in the front is busted, it appears the linkage is severed (can't turn the wheel), and in the rear one of the rim forks busted and the rim edge ripped off a bit. I don't know if I tweaked the axle or frame in all this. We'll just have to wait and see.

If the car is a total loss, my concern now is about getting any money back. I paid cash up front for the lease; $31k (3yr/12k mi). I'm almost exactly 1yr into the lease now. Would I get the remaining balance back and the dealer get the value of the car?

Sigh.

Wow. Never seen a break in a wheel lip quite like that one. Check your tires - the rear one probably has a broken belt with that kind of damage to the wheel. Glad it wasn't worse.

Yeah, I'm fine. I was just worried about the car at the time. I wasn't going much over 30mph at the time probably.

You already missed the first one a few posts up

well it happens.. it's a piece of metal you'll just have to move on. to answer your question i think it'll be about $20K worth of damage if you go through the dealer.
glad to hear you're ok, that's all that matters everything else in life is replaceable

In 6 years of owning and driving 3 E9x BMWs, and turning DSC fully off every time I start the engine, it finally caught up with me.

I was driving out of the turn, started to give it some gas, a bump flung my back out, and I failed to correct it. DSC probably would have saved my ass.

I usually turn it off because it just cuts out the power on me on the slightest wheel spin at all. I almost never chirp the tires, yet the nanny control butts in and just annoys me. Maybe I'll just slow down a bit on the road now.

Live and learn.

That sucks. As tail happy as this car is, I only turn DSC off at the track. For street, M button suffices for me. Good luck with the repair!
