Taking the long way home to E90 ownership!
I can finally say I'm part of the M3 crowd! It's been a long time coming, including two different Porsches along the way, but it feels great to have found the car that "fits".
I am the original owner of an '01 330i. Great car. Don't know if I'll ever get rid of it. I nearly bought an E46 M3 when I got my 330i, but I couldn't quite swing the extra $$. Since then, I've always known I'd own an M3. I'm lucky to be able to afford a 2nd car and have been "searching" for 6 years now for something to complement my original Bimmer. Here's the list I've gone through: - '06 Civic Si (new): pretty fun, horrible throttle jerkiness, sold after 4 mos - '03 G35 Coupe: nice looking, decently fast, poor interior, so-so handling - '02 996 C2: Seal Grey, aero pkg, flat-out gorgeous. Fast in a straight line, but base suspension shockingly floaty - '07 Cayman S: what a cool car. Lowered suspension, very unique and drives on rails (good & bad). Didn't think I'd ever get rid of it until... I test drove the E90! Test drove a 2010 E90 that was ridiculously cheap. I was thinking I might trade in my 330i if I pulled the trigger on the deal, but when I drove it I realized I really didn't need the Cayman anymore! So... here she is. Not your typical E9x M3: very low level of equipment. Just what I was looking for. What a freaking car! Smoother and easier to drive than my 330i when you want it to be. Faster, way cooler sounding and just as balanced as my Cayman was. Unbelievably versatile. I will drive this thing way more than I ever drove my Cayman. I'm in love.

Congrats and welcome! You will continue to be amazed at how versatile this car is, especially in sedan form! From hitting the track to picking up the kids from school or making a Home Depot or Costco run, the M3 does it all!

I think EDC and 19" wheels are the only options. I've been watching M3s for literally years - Craigslist, Autotrader, this forum, you name it - so I knew I had a unique car when I saw it. That, coupled with a silly-good deal (car dealer made a mistake and listed it for their cost) made this tough to pass up. Once I drove it...
It's the base sport cloth you barely ever see. It has leather on the side bolsters and cloth inserts where you sit and half-way up the back. Has a two-tone look and is warmer and "grippier" than leather. I like it way more than I thought I was going to. I'm not much of a mod-er. Really like to keep things stock, although I might consider Comp-Pkg wheels in the future. I like my "standard" 19s, but I just love the Comp Pkg wheels.
