Radio Question
Next in my series of dumb questions:
I think I remember seeing that you can load songs from your iPhone directly into the car somehow. Is this true? I have a 2012 135 without the HK stereo. |

You may be referring to iPod connectivity and the answer is yes. HK is not required. Don't know about iPhone connectivity for music.

Alternatively, if you're referring to the ability to store songs locally in the car itself, you would need the navigation system for that. It includes a hard drive for data storage which the standard radio doesn't include. Sound system makes no difference in this discussion either way.

If you have iDrive you can load music into the on-board hd using the USB port in the glovebox. I'm not sure if you can pull it directly from an iPhone though -- you may need to use a flash drive.

not possable you need the hard drive that comes with satnav system, you will just have to plug i phone into USB slot, via special cable, works fine, looks rubbish.

Or just load up a USB stick with MP3 files and leave it plugged in, out of sight, in the arm rest USB slot. Much more capacity than the internal hard drive on the iDrive cars, and much better quality than using the funky Y-cable with an ipod or iphone's headphone output.
