Q: Integrated radar detector and laser jammer
Does anyone have a fully integrated radar detector and laser jammer in their 1-series? I had a '06 M5 where the prior owner installed a completely hidden and integrated system.
The radar jammer was fully integrated and cannot be seen, with the sensors etched into the rear view mirror. The laser jammer was built in, with an on/off toggle switch at the bottom of the steering column. Curious who might have experience with installers who can do this, and whether this is difficult to do? |

Out of curiosity, how well did it work? Did you ever have any experience that proved or strongly suggested that the jammer was doing anything?

It worked well - the jammer would go off when it detected a laser signal aimed at the front bumper (the jammer sensor was installed near the front license plate). I'd brake hard and slow down.

Check out the Stinger DSI system. Very cool and highly recommended, but not cheap!

I had MusicarNW install Escort 9500ci, it is amazing. sweet install, have the display etched into rearview mirror, blinkers also flash red to indicate when music too loud to hear.

+1 I would recommend the Escort 9500ci for an all in-one. I initially did not want a laser jammer so I bought the escort 9500ix, but with the increased use of Laser guns across America I decided to buy the Interceptor LI laser jammer. This will be an excellent combo with the 9500ix (& Weil stealth coating), and they now have vertically mounted diodes for BMWs. Both are easy installs and about the same overall cost as the 9500ci.

Yeah, for some reason LI said not to mount the original diodes vertically , maybe marketing b/c they have a special BMW version. I just mounted the diodes and placed the wiring through to the cabin. I will connect the LI to power tomorrow if I have time. I might skip the connection directly to my 9500ix...still thinking about it.
