New trunk cargo organizer.

I needed to get something going on to keep the groceries from flying all over in the trunk and have been shopping cargo organizers. Ended up picking up this sucker here ----> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00 There isn't a lot to say. The quality is pretty good and it gives the impression of sturdiness. The unit folds down flat quickly if you need to get bigger items in the trunk and the bins are adjustable by moving the dividers which attach with velcro. It doesn't quite sit flat on the floor all the way across because the port side is slightly raised off the deck by the little platform on that side. I took measurements and knew it would going in but I wanted maximum space going across the back. There is another version that is smaller.

One last thing. Reviews on it over to amazon talked of a unusually strong plastic odor but then others noted that they did not have that and thought they must have changed something. IMO its most definitely there but not so strong as I would find objectionable. Were this thing in a sport ute or something similar though instead of the trunk I think it might need being left setting out in the back yard for a few days to get detuned a little bit.

Bout it, the mayhem in the trunk issue has been brought under control, the old lady is happy cause there is someplace to put stuff, I'm happy because the old lady is happy but more so because I can drive normally now instead of in grocery mode anytime something goes in the trunk.

I didn't know the M3 had a grocery mode??? Is that accessed through the idrive? Can you program it into the M button?

Nice looking divider... could have used this the other night when all of my fresh groceries were scattered throughout my trunk. I see handles on the side... is it sturdy enough to carry the grocery bags in the divider if you were to just take it out using the handles on the side? or is the bottom soft and would just collapse if carried? Thx

Grocery mode is accessed when your wife gives you the "if you're hoping to see me naked tonight the groceries in the trunk better get there intact" look. Sometimes it can be self induced like when you hear the unmistakable sound of free range beer bottles coming from the trunk.

Not sure about it being able to carry a full load of groceries. We're empty nesters and normally just have a couple bags. They advertise that it can do exactly that and based on its construction I think it probably works fine for the typical assortment of groceries. Once I do fill it up thats what I intend to do with it. As I said its quite sturdy and gives the impression of quality. Not oh purty quality, not looks expensive quality, quality as in it isn't going to fall apart. The bottom isn't hard but it is about a quarter inch thick and its stiff, not just a thin piece of ballistic nylon like a grocery sack.

I just deploy the separator over the tire repair kit/air pump. If you lift it all the way up it will catch on a hold under the rear speaker deck. It sections off the front 1/3 of the trunk which is perfect for like a thousand dollars of groceries - that's about 4-5 bags at WholeFoods!)

I bought the BMW collapsing trunk organizer for the X series. I just applied some velcro to the underside of the box and it stays in place, even when carrying groceries, a loaded cooler, etc. It definitely beats having things bumping around in back/tipping over.

That and it takes up a lot less space. It uses only about one quarter of the rear half of the trunk.

plastic oder may be due to the increased temperatures in the trunk of certain cars. the M3 trunk gets pretty hot even in the winter.

I usually just put my bags on the floor in the back. Also your stuff wont' slide around if you use the reusable bags. Generally, you can put alot more stuff in those bags and they will have more rigdity and a larger base. It also saves space and unloading time. You can stuff like 20 plastic bags worth of groceries in 2 bags.

hidden feature, it's the button under the M button, I think you lose like 20 hp when you push it, and your car turns into a M3 Civic.

Cut down more trees and lower the price of my gas you idiots! (the paper's recycled anyway so the trees really won't suffer so much)

Inception of plastc bags at grocery store = dumbest thing ever. Unless of course you like repacking your groceries once you get home and open your trunk.

Doesn't appear the trees would suffer anyway. From what I've read the data shows that for every 10 trees the logging companies cut down they plant 11. Not because they're altruistic, it's just good business practice if you want to have a future supply to harvest.

Already use them and find little difficulty in getting em to give up their contents.

It folds flat. Cant claim to have put a ruler to it but I'm guessing a little more than an inch tall when folded? The process to do that is to pull the velcro on the top off the dividers and let them flop to to the bottom, they you just push it closed. Takes about 15, 20 seconds.
