Hanging out at home. Have you taken the M to Zion national park. Did a road trip from Dallas to the grand canyon, Zion and finally to Las Vegas and it was a blast. Lots of small roads and twist.

I used to head to Zion all the time when I lived in LA...what a place. I drove a truck then, and now that i have an M, I'm too far for a weekend trip! Somebody needs to go so I can live vicariously through them.

Planning on a quiet drive to the small towns northeast of here. Lots of long, empty farm roads.

I'm paying a visit to my Grandfather and two of my friends who served and protected our country...then back to work.

Thank you to everyone who has served or to those who still continue to serve and protect us.

Memorial service at a WWII cemetery in Europe. Over 8,000 American Soldiers buried just in that one area (there were simliar services happening all over Europe). Just returned from it. I've never felt so humbled.

Let me tell you, the Europeans show the fallen American family members' graves an unbelievable amount of respect (weekly visits, flowers laid on all holidays, writing to family members, etc.). The whole town came out for the ceremony to show support.

Unbelievable.

You are quite right about the respect to the American as well as all other alleys that helped liberate Europe in 1945. We shall never forget all those brave Men.

Apologize Alter, I didn't mean to leave out mention of the numerous allied forces who participated in WWII.

No need to applogize my friend, I just posted to add my respect to all those brave men, you see in 1945 I was only 7 years old and I've always been greatful to all those brave men to liberate us from the terble termoil that was hanging over Europe at that time.

My father live in Hawaii and actually witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor. My grandparents lived accross the channel from battleship row (about where Aloha Stadium is now). He has many stories about what he saw, for example when the Arizona was hit the entire ammo magazine blew and the hull of the ship turned orange. Over a thousand sailors died instantly. I saw a very interesting documentary on PBS about the Japanese mini sub that got in to Pearl during the attack. There is a photo of the sub with torpedo tracks going directly at the Oklahoma.

+1 - after leaving the American Cemetary in Luxembourg I saw a family of twits taking there 80 lb dog towards the cemetary. I turned around & followed them to ensure they wouldn't take that dog in to piss on the graves. They couldn't understand why dogs are not allowed. To walk among the number of graves & read the history is truly a riveting experience.

Unless your an ass wipe that doesn't have an upbringing & thinks Memorial Day is for BBQ's.
