Ever notice how conscious M drivers are of other Ms

Ever since I got this car, every time I see an M3 on the road, I try to pick out every detail - stock exhaust or not, rims, DCT/6MT. Its almost borderline an obsession. The funny part is that every time I've had a chance to make eye contact with another M3 driver, he/she noticed me as well. Sometimes its even a head nod, or a piece sign salute.

Its like we have an unwritten code of ethics that apply to us.

True story. I feel like owning this car is more of a brotherhood. From what I hear its not like that with a lot of other high end sports cars.

Yep, I usually wave/nod/acknowledge other M drivers and receive the same in return - it's a good feeling. I've owned many cars in the past and there are others that do the same also (Jeep, Subaru, Porsche are some that I know do).

Garage List
I'm pretty friendly on the road to other M cars, but many M drivers in the UK are snooty.

Nothing new I'm afraid. It's the same thing for many other desirable cars which are being driven by enthusiasts.

Yep definitely a brotherhood of sorts.

Case in point I had to take a rental tux back the other day from being in a friend's wedding. It was a day or two late. I asked nicely if they could "waive" the $20/day late fee. Girl told me she'd go ask her manager. Guy walks in from outside, says "You drive that M don't you?" I said yes, he didn't say anything and handed me my receipt. No charge.

Turns out he has a E46 M3. We talked a bit, looked over each other's cars, he gave me his card and now I have a huge discount at Men's Warehouse. Win.

I agree with OP. Always try to give a nod or some type of thumbs up to other M owners, not just M3's, but across the board. What drives me nuts it when someone doesn't know what they have. I told a guy the other day that I like his Morr wheels and he just looked at me confused, I said, your wheels, they are Morr, no? He just said, I'm not sure man, it came this way... UGH!!!
