2009 M3 vs 2011 + M3 Computer Flash
I'm new to the M3 brethren, and have been slowly reading previous threads to learn more about my newest addition.
I'm trying to confirm whether there is a difference between my model year's and newer M3s computer flash, and if so, what are the differences and should I be requesting this update? Thanks, and keep the good information rolling! |

Yes, the software on your car may be different from what comes on a newer car. For the most part, the dealer will not update the software unless your car has a problem. You can pay for the service if you like though.

Thanks for confirming. Any recommendations on where to go if I'm willing to pay?

Unless you have an actual problem with your car I wouldn't bother paying real money for the latest BMW software (aftermarket coding or engine tune is a different story though.) Unless you have a problem (in which case BMW buys your software - at least here in the US that's the case, not sure about Canadian warranty) you're not going to see any appreciable difference in performance and whatever you bought would be replaced or wiped out by a subsequent dealership service visit.
