Grammar Police: 'a' M3 or 'an' M3?

I'm not an expert in English literature but this really irritates me. Did everyone forget their vowels and consonants?

What's the correct way to refer to our beloved M3's? Is it, 'a' M3 or 'an' M3?

Don't even get me started on the subject of other grammar errors that our threads are littered with. I can deal with minor grammar errors but some posts are so poorly written that I just can't take it. My biggest pet peeve are threads where the OP didn't even take the time to ensure the thread title is properly written.

Is it too hard for you to read over what you just typed to make sure it sounds coherent?

Here is a recent example just from yesterday. I noticed that the thread is closed. I wonder if the OP closed it after several members pointed out the obvious grammar errors.

"Why doesn't any read the post anymore?"

An M3. Sounds like an e to start when you say it.

So let me get this straight... You ask for a grammatical clarification and then attack though who don't always use proper grammar?

Besides, this is an internet forum. There is no expectation that everything you type be grammatically correct just as there is no expectation that everything you say in real life is grammatically correct.

If you were brought up to make sure everything that comes out of your mouth be proper English (or whatever your native language is) and to never take short cuts then you are amongst the minority...

"an" ... as others have pointed out, since "M3" starts with an "e" sound, it is treated grammatically as starting with a vowel and thus uses "an".

Maybe we could add proper punctuation to list.

Yep, I am in the majority that doesn't spell check or do grammatical reviews of everything I type. I'm glad to admit it and if I type something confusing I'm always glad to confirm what I was trying to say.

And from looking at dme330i's review, you are in the same boat as myself!
