E90 M3 perfect compact family sports car?

Is the e90 m3 the perfect 4 door compact sports car? I can't think of any better! I'm loving it!! I can't wait to see what the f30 M3 has in store.

as i was leaving my garage last night i noticed how freaking FAT the rear of my e90 was. i loved it but compact is opinion. no matter how small or big my car is ill still park in big spots in corners but that's me. after having this car i realized i don't even like any car bigger than this. it is the perfect option. f80 m3 has me on the edge of my seat

Compact family sports car. Civic and elantra are not family cars.

Civics and Elantras and Jettas and whatnot have similar to much more interior space than an E90 3-series. Interior volume combined with cargo volume is where those (compact, midsize, subcompact, etc.) designations come from. The E90 3-series is a midsize according to the federal regs, as are most of the cars listed above.

E90 could be the perfect family sports car, but the mileage is really the biggest challenge, IMO. We do a lot of quick, short trips with the kids, which is of course terrible for mileage.

I just went on a trip 1400 miles in 4 days with 3 people this past weekend, including 2 tour size golf bags and all sorts of luggages for the passengers
\It was a great trip with E90 M3, I love it even more now.

What color is yours? I haven't seen it around town. I used to have the Interlagos Blue one in Huntington for the past year and a half and just recently sold it. I miss it!

I think Audi RS4 is more of a family car due to better interior and quattro.

The E9x has four seats so it's technically a family car, but I rarely put anything in the back seat.

why not? a standard E90 is used as one, E90 M3 is the same. I think the back seat leg room in the E90 is really cramped, I would hate to be back there for more than a 30 min drive.

How about calling it a sports sedan? With regards to "luxury", even high end real sports cars have premium luxury features including high grade materials, every electronic gizmo, heated/ventilated seats, cameras, etc, etc. Basically, any high-end car these days is a luxury car.

Well, my family has two persons so our perfect family car is an E92 of course.

I can agree with you here. I have always considered a 4 door nice car a luxury sedan. But a sports sedan sounds just as "right" IMO.

While the tires/wheel arches may be quite a bit wider than a Civic, the car itself isn't that much larger overall. I had an Integra GSR (Civic tarted up by Honda) before the wife donated her old 325i (which I traded in on the e90) and it was only a few inches shorter/narrower than the M3. It fits in almost exactly the same footprint in my garage.

Any significant difference in actual size is mostly psychological. The aggressive bodywork makes the car look far more substantial.

(Sorry, I dont' have access to my e90 owner's manual, and BMW has removed sedan specs already, but comparing the Coupe to the Civic

Civic

Length 177.3
Height 56.5
Width 69.0

M3
Length 180.5
Height 54.9
Width 70.2

3 inches longer, 1 inch wider is hardly a huge difference. As stated, the 3 series line does fit the compact category.

I do consider our M3's are sports cars. Notice I didn't call it a race or exotic car. Of coarse the term sports car is subjective. I think of anything that is fun to drive on a track out of the box a sports car. Many manufacterers over use the term sports sedan. I think of the term sports sedan as a sedan with sporty features (e.g. 335i, IS350 and G37). You can trick those cars out and make them into sports cars, but our cars are sports cars off the assembly line.
