Car ate bird, but where's the bird?

My car ate a bird coming home and I saw the feathers stuck in my intake(Still a couple stuck in the intake on the left side) I was able to take the majority of the feathers that got stuck in the top black honey comb grille out. Where's the bird? I can't find it for the life of me. I'm assuming it's still stuck somewhere in the engine bay? The feathers in the intake won't harm the engine, will it?

Thank you.

Probably in the bottom of airbox. Remove the airbox cover, cook and enjoy

Did your car burp after?

Just kidding. That's what your air filter is for. Might not hurt to remove your air filter and clean it (or have someone do this for you), though. I would imagine the worst case scenario would be a clogged air filter. Perhaps others can chime in on this.

I believe I saw a thread a couple months ago where a bird got sucked in through the intake and was in a guy's airbox. I'd have to guess it's in there. You'll definitely want to take care of that when you get home.

You just need to remove the lid, not the whole box. Look at the lid and the screws, just loosen the screws and remove the lid. The bird is probably underneath the filter. Hope this helps.

They usually stay attached to the lid. You might have to get your bottom engine cover off, it might be laying on it. Unless you have a magnet that you can slide under your engine and see if you can fish it that way?

lol! just a comedy of errors for you today huh?

you're better off just buying a replacement screw. Even at a hardware store, just bring in another airbox screw and you just need to match the screw pattern and length.

or you can go to the dealer

Try adjusting your M3's diet to include more protein, the car is obviously trying to tell you something.

Your not suppose to remove the fasteners completely for that exact reason (live and learn). You can just have one missing until you can stop by a hardware store and have it replaced. Let us know what you find in there.

To add insult to injury, my Allen wrench fell down there too. Now I need to figure out if I can get a magnet and get it back. I can see it.

It didn't fall into the intake, it fell next to it. I need a magnet to fish it out. FML!
