Can I lower the clutch on my 128i?
I want to know if I can lower the clutch on my 128i. I am 6'3", and it would be much better for me if the friction point was a couple inches lower - flush with the brake pedal would be ideal. I did this on my 98 prelude years ago, and it made a great difference. I already have my seat all the way back, and I could use the extra space if possible!

Hp autoworks has an aftermarket clutch pedal but it's pretty costly.

Maybe your clutch is worn out ? When its new the engagement point will be lower than with lots of miles/and wear, it will be higher up the pedal travel point.
Have you been in another (new-er) manual 128i ?

When you say the engagement point will be higher up - do you also mean it will be larger? Obviously, I'm not looking to expand this friction point - only "re-locate" it. FYI - this is what I did with my old car. I've heard that it may not be possible on the Bimmer, but wanted to find out for sure. |

BUT when the clutch is new... this point that the clutch starts to engage will be towards the bottom of the pedal travel. Typically just off the floor/carpet. As years and miles go by... (sometimes a 1/4 mile at a time!) the clutch's engagement point will become higher and higher up the pedal. First in the middle of the clutch pedal stroke and then finally towards the top of the pedal stroke. Thats when you know your clutch is on its last legs. That and maybe clutch "chatter" vibrations as you let the clutch out(engagement). Quote:
